Fines are generated with the friction of mechanical conveyor, or speed of dilute phase pneumatic convey systems. Dense phase vacuum conveying will move the material gently and slowly.  The only friction will be the contact between the outer particles with the side wall of a smooth tube.  Dense phase allows the particles to travel at a slow velocity, about one-foot per second.  Moving the particles at velocities this slow is paramount in minimizing particle breakage.
